Black Friday tech + app roundup: what’s worth digging for

Look, I’m not one to endorse the kind of consumer frenzy we most commonly associate with Black Friday — nothing about the surges of people pushing each other when store doors open looks enticing to me. ⚔️

However, Black Friday has continued to morph into one of the undeniably biggest retail events of the calendar year. While it can certainly lead to crazed rushes over products nobody knew they wanted until they saw the big yellow discount sign, there’s some gold among the mayhem that could just leave you feeling smug at a worthy nabbed deal.

Heres a roundup of Black Friday offers across apps, services, tech and automation tools that you can peruse from the comfort of your own home.

Apps

AppSumo is a round-up haven that’ll keep highlighting Black Friday deals across apps of all shapes and sizes as the day unfolds. Currently, highlighted deals include a hefty discount on a high-quality stock photo service (if you’re automating your content strategies, you’ll be in regular need of decent images), discounted access to Sociamonials, which can automate your social media planning and posting, an automated booking tool for set-and-forget incoming booking coverage, and a simple but robust team management app. Keep an eye on AppSumo across the Black Friday and Cyber Monday period for continued updates and offers.

Elsewhere, Infinity, a project management platform focused on organisation and optimisation, is offering a lifetime discount over the Black Friday weekend.

Publist is offering a lifetime deal starting from $69 with code BLACKFRIDAY20, giving you the power of oversight of all of your files, no matter where they’re housed, all in one easy interface.

Check out SE Ranking for cloud-based SEO engineering, with BLACKFRIDAY2019 unlocking lifetime access for $27.

Klenty, a sales automation tool that’s focused on prospect leads and email automation, is offering 40% off all annual plans with code BLACKFRIDAY2019.

Tech

Retailers of all shapes and sizes are getting into the holiday spirit (and stoking consumer fires) with a number of strong offerings in the automation tech space. With products ranging across home automation, home security, smart locks, smart speakers, wearable devices and computers + accessories, now’s a good time to bust a move if you’ve been looking to upgrade your existing tech, or make the leap to something new entirely.

I’m a big fan of integrating tools such as Amazon Alexa in my home automation, which Amazon’s offering for $30 off on their home starter kit. However, Google’s giving them a good run for their money with discounts on smart devices including the Echo Dot, Google Home and Google Nest Hub. Whether you’re based in the US, in Australia, or holed up in another pocket of the world, these major brands are stocked by a wide range of retail outlets, so it’s worth running a comparison on your home region to find the best deal from the lot.

Good news for those looking to up their home security — Ring’s Alarm Security Kit, Amazon’s Arlo Pro and SimpliSafe’s Security System are all taking a discount hit. I use the Wyze Cam myself, which starts at just $19.99 on their site this Black Friday with shipping across the US.

Apple’s not messing around either — selected purchases come with gift cards of up to A$320/USD$200 from Friday to Monday.

And if you’re not sure where to start? Here’s Amazon’s Black Friday home base — it’s hard to beat the giant.

Don’t fall too far down the rabbit hole, but know a good deal when you see one.

Happy hunting!
