3 brilliant tools that extract data from emails

In the world of small business email automation, data is king. However, in order to make the most of it, you’ve got to begin by figuring out how to extract data from emails in a way that makes sense to your workflows — and that doesn’t result in hours of manual labour, prone to errors, on a regular basis. As is often the case in the world of automation, there’s a tool for the job that’ll make squinting at an email as you copy and paste information a thing of the past. In fact, there’s quite a few of them.

Here’s three tools that can make all the difference in smoothing out email automation for small businesses of all shapes and colours.

  1. Email Parser by Zapier

Just when we think we couldn’t love this team anymore, the Zapier email parser solution arrives on the scene. Email Parser by Zapier is included with free and paid accounts, recognising patterns in emails and identifying the data that’s actually important. Designed to find what it is you want it to look for, Zapier’s Email Parser is connected to Zapier’s app automation workflows so it can copy and paste that key data into any other app you want. They’ve got plenty of tips on how to use the Zapier email parser, how to forward emails to the parser, and how to put parsed email data to work until it breaks a sweat — learn more here.

  1. Mailparser.io

Mailparser.io is focused on speed and precision. As soon as it begins receiving your emails, it’ll work to identify common patterns in the messages across data sets such as order numbers, prices, names, quantities and more. This data is then converted into a table automatically for your review. If its automation has built a data set you’re happy with, you can set and forget — one-step email parsing. If you want to make some tweaks to the extracted data from the incoming emails, you can use pre-made or new rules in the mailparser.io app to whip up exactly what it is you’re after.

  1. Parseur

While Zapier’s Email Parser and mailparser.io both result in plain text data, Parseur works a little differently. Its HTML parser displays messages in exactly the way they look in your email inbox, resulting in a simplified rich-text email view that allows you to copy what you want, choose to create a new field based on that data source, and then instruct Parseur to continue on in the same manner for every incoming email to follow. Parseur also supports attachment parsing, metadata parsing, table parsing, layout auto-detection and multiple export strategies. It’s a workhorse when it comes to email data extraction.

Building an email data extraction solution for your small business workflows is one powerful step in the direction of automating further workflows — and saving even more time
